World League of Chess Tournaments (WLCT)


Moscow, the 19th of January 2006

We have pleasure to announce that the "World League of Chess tournaments" (WLCT) have started working.

At an initial stage the League included organizers of some international circular and open tournaments in Russia, all of them are members of the
Association of chess professionals.

Mr. Igor Glek was elected as The President of League for the first year.

The wish to become members of League is expressed also by organizers of the various competitions organized in Russia as well as in other countries.

The main tasks of League are to improve quality of the organization of chess competitions, representation and protection of interests of organizersof chess tournaments, the all-round help to participants of chess tournaments.

The basic directions of activity of WLCT:


1) Creation and support of the Internet - site.
2) Advertising of tournaments, information interchange.
3) The planning of the tournament schedule, a calendar of tournaments.
4) Mutual aid in purchase of the general stock, attributes, computer maintenance, the Internet - translations.
5) Mutual visa support, the help at booking tickets and hotels.
6) Mutual support in organizational, qualifying and legal issues, on attraction of partners and sponsors, an establishment of joint prizes, carrying out of series of tournaments of type "Grand prix", etc.

World League "Chess tournaments " hopes for close cooperation with FIDE, ACP, continental and national chess federations.
