ACP Newsletter Nr.2/2008

Dear chess friends,
Hereby, we would like to present you the ACP Board Newsletter Nr.2/2008.
 
1) Bids for 2008 ACP Classics and 2008 ACP WS Final
The ACP is proud to announce the opening of the bidding procedure for both 2008 ACP Classics and 2008 ACP WS Final. Following the huge success of the ACP WRC 2007 and 2008, the ACP Board has decided to organize another prestigious event for men, and to stage the first ACP WS final. Best male and female players will qualify for ACP Classics and ACP WS Final respectively, according to their performance in ACP Tour.                                                                                                              

Bidding information:
 a) ACP Classics:
 
Format: Round Robin or Knockout.
Number of participants: 12 for Round Robin (11 top players of the ACP Tour + organizers' wild card) or 16 for Knockout (14 top players of the ACP Tour + 2 organizers' wild cards. Minimal prize fund: 160 000 USD.  Time control: Classical (6 or 7 hours). Dates: The event should be staged between September and December 2008. Bidding deadline: May 15, 2008

b) ACP WS Final:
Format: Round Robin or Knockout. Number of participants: 8-16. Minimal prize fund: 40 000 USD. Time control: Classical or Rapid. Dates: between August and December 2008. Bidding deadline: May 15, 2008

2) ACP Tour / ACP WS events results. Forthcoming events

a) We publish the best results of ACP members:

Corus GM "A" (Wijk aan Zee, NED, 12-27.01, www.coruschess.com): L.Aronian – 672 points (1-2 place), V.Anand, T.Radjabov – 244 (3-4)…

Corus GM "B",(Wijk aan Zee (NED), 12-27.01, www.coruschess.com): S.Movsesian – 360 (1 place), E.Bacrot, N.Short – 173 (2-3)…

6th GibTele.com Masters (Gibraltar, 22-31.01 - www.gibraltarchesscongress.com/Gib2008): H.Nakamura - 415 (1-2)…

Also strong men’s national Championships of Armenia and Croatia were credited for ACP Tour.

b) Forthcoming events in February:

25th  Torneo Internacional de Ajedrez, Morelia - Linares (MEX/ESP, 14.02 - 07.03, www.ajedrezmorelialinares.com.mx )
                                                                     

3) New members.
We are glad to welcome GM Judit Polgar (HUN) (the best World female player), 
WGM Irina Lymar (UKR), GM Mikhail Panarin (RUS), GM Vitaly Tseshkovsky (RUS), IM Alexander Zakharov (RUS), IM Alexander Petrushin (RUS), GM Josep Lopez Martinez (ESP).
Now ACP joins more than 250 members!
