World League of Chess Tournaments > News - 2008 >Program of Mr.Igor Glek. ACP Board Elections 2008-11Date: 21/11/2007 I.Glek: Program of the candidate to ACP Board In the last years I am much more active as an organizer of chess events (was on of main organizers of a new festival - Moscow Open – which for 3 years became on of biggest open tournaments of the World (prize fund in 2008 will be more than USD 200 000! Now is hard to believe that first time – in year 2005 – it was about USD 10 000…) I believe deeply that union of chess players could became even more effective and influence democratic organization and finally to improve essentially the professional level and image of chess. The example of poker and some other games is showing us how many efforts it is possible to reach thanks good management and cooperation between the organizers. I mean it is shame for chess and everybody of us that chess - with a number of hundred millions of players, very positive image, detailed outworked systems of titles, ratings etc. consedes to some “half illegal” games like poker... I believe that we can find a solution only developing mass chess and improving players motivating.
A) “World Chess Grand Prix series for everyone”. The project was supported by FIDE President Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and other leaders of FIDE and “Global Chess” during 78th FIDE Сongress in Antalya. The start of series is planning on the middle of 2008. Final tournament could be playing by knock-out system with more than 200 players. Prize fund of the first series should be not less than USD 500 000. B) “ACP International Fan Club”. The statute of Club is prepared. The potential sponsors have advised, indeed, because ACP is still not so well known under chess fans – to call it “Chess International Fan Club”. So we have to improve the image of ACP.
C) The drafts of WLCT chess events classification and WLCT classification of chess activities you can see on www.chess-events.org/tournaments_classification and www.chess-events.org/Classfication_of_chess_activities. One of the most informative world–wide calendar of chess events (competitions, festivals, congresses, master-classes etc.) – on English (www.chess-events.org/calendar) and Russian. Other projects like World Ch under age categories of “Ladies” and “Gentlemen” (firstly tested by Int. festival “Moscow Open”) are working out. D) For ACP members – extra conditions by “Moscow Open”, travels to the tournaments, help by looking for clubs and sponsors, support by caring out and PR of the tournaments, support by reservation of hotels and tickets, visa getting etc. E) A number of VIP-events is organized, like A.Karpov’s VIP – simul, the friendly match of school kids Berlin - Moscow etc.); the negotiations with eventual sponsors are going and with some of them are previously agreements about support are reached. B. Program of ACP’s activities in 2008-11. There are the previously agreements about the caring out of final tournament are reached. I am ready to cover the expenses for ACP Board assistants (secretary, web-master, PR-manager). There are the workers for WLCT - they could work also for ACP. Generally the joining of both organizations is possible. 4. The improvement of “ACP Tour”. The creation of “World Chess Grand Prix series for everyone”. The establishment of prizes for women, seniors, juniors in both series, the creation of “ACP Juniors Tour”, “ACP Seniors Tour”, “ACP Women Tour”. 5. Interaction with FIDE. Participating on the work of three last IDE Congresses and talking with the FIDE leadership I came to the opinion: A) FIDE should be much more dynamical and needs itself on regeneration – both HR and ideas. The majority of committees are working absolutely inefficiently. B) ACP could help FIDE to became more dinamic but ACP has negotiate more hard. I believe, ACP has demand more places for the winners of ACP-Tour into FIDE World Cup and FIDE World Grand Prix series which is creating by FIDE and Global Chess. ACP has also discuss with FIDE World Championship Cycles, time-control, calendar, anti-computer and anti-mobile devices control, improvement of rating system, fair conditions for the participants of World and Continental championships as well as among juniors and seniors etc. 6. Activities aimed at improvement the image of chess (as way of intellectual upbringing of children and youth; the development of chess in schools etc.) IGM Igor Glek wlct06@gmail.com, ig61@bk.ru.
