To determine the level (category) of the event the middle rating of the first 10 players with biggest rating (generally or in his/her age/gender/rating category) is used. If the number of players is less than 10 the middle rating of all players will be used.
5) The total number of points (P) won in a tournament is calculated by the formula: A) if all games were played with the same kind of time control:
P = PP x AS x AG x AC,
B) if not all games were played with the same kind of time control:
P = PP x ASm x AG x AC,
where are: P - total number of points (P) won in a tournament;
PP – number the points depends of the place and the number of participants (according Att.1);
AS – Amendment factor depending of the kind and official statute of the event
AG - Amendment factor depending of the number of games played by the participant
AC - Amendment factor depending of the level (category) of the event
ASm – AS, calculated by formula:
ASm = (GC + GR + GS + GB):G, where:
GC – number of classical time-control games played by participant;
GR - number of rapid time-control games played by participant;
GS – number of speed time-control games played by participant;
GB - number of blitz time-control games played by participant.
G – the whole number of games played in the event
Only individual performances are taken into account; the results of teams are irrelevant. Team competitions generally will be counted just like individual. The player who will show the best result in his (her) category gain the biggest number of points, etc. – according to Table 2.1 (part VI).
The organizers have the right to choose the criteria which will determine the best players in each category. They can point it before the starting of the event by asking about the inclusion into World Tour and after the end of the competition they can send the standings for every category just according to the chosen criteria. If the organizers have problems with determination of the criteria, order of places, etc, they are recommended to connect to “WCT OK”.
In case of tie by one of the “Tour’s” event by two or more participants and if the organizers themselves didn’t decide who from the tied players is the best, the WCT points should be chair between the participants equally.
If a number which is received as a result of the division is fractional, it approximated towards the closest surpassing round number.
In case of tie for the qualifying place for the final standings of the “Tour”, the following tie-break system will be applied:
a) The player who obtained his WCT points in the least number of tournaments; b) If the number of tournaments taken into account is equal for several players, the player is in favour is the one who scored the largest number of points, once the worst result of each player is withdrawn from the calculation. If it is not enough to resolve the situation, the next worst result is withdrawn, etc. c) If points "a" and "b" don't break the tie, a drawing of lots takes place to determine the qualifier.
Example: two participants (A and B) have taken identical number of the WCT points counting their best test results of 10 competitions, presumably on 500. The points taken by participants in competitions, not considered for classification, are: for the participant A: 30, 25, 15, 5. For the participant B: 30, 20, 20, 10, 5. In that case we have to compare the number of the points by most successful of the remained results: 30 (by player A and 30 by player B too). As we see, these indicators are equal. Then we have to consider the next following results: 25 and 20. Hence, the participant A became advantage.
IX.The conditions for including of any event into World Tour
Every chess competition can be part of World Tour (for Kids Tour and VIP Tour also some other chess performances can be taken into account. More details in Sections X, XI) if the following conditions are to be fulfilled:
1) Usual fee – 10 euro for the event (if there are not more as 100 participants) or 5 euro for the Kids, Seniors and Disabled. This discounted fee should be paid if the organizers will send to WCT OC all standings as it is stipulated by the World Tour’s regulations (Rules). If due some reasons the organizers can not fulfill the standings as mentioned in § … than they may ask “WCT OC” for special agreement. If some continental, national, regional etc. federations take the mission to serve several events, here also the agreement between “WCT OC” and correspondent federation may take place.
2) The organizers should also put the official (World Tour) Logo on their tournament's site, and, if possible, on all information documents issued before and during the tournament, such as regulations, players list, current and final standings, pairings, etc. In this case their tournament will be included in the Tour and counted according to the World Tout Points System.
3) In case the organizers decline the proposal, events could be counted anyway in the World Tour if “WCT OC” will decide for. However, the number of World Tour points distributed in these events may be divided by two if “WCT OC” will vote for.
4) The “WCT OC” reserves itself the right to refuse counting a tournament, in case the results appear particularly suspicious. This will avoid pre-arranged tournaments influencing the final players' rankings.
5) In the event of circumstances unforeseen in paragraph IV, the WCT OK shall decide on the matter at hand. “WCT OC” decisions are final.
